About TallyAero
Built by people who've lost friends
to preventable crashes.
Between the three cofounders
The numbers are unacceptable
Loss of control. VFR into IMC. Fuel mismanagement. CFIT. The NTSB has been writing the same probable cause reports for decades. Loss of control alone kills someone once every four days.
Every one of these has a trail of data that, if connected, would have flagged the risk before the flight left the ground. But the logbook doesn't talk to the weather. The training record doesn't talk to the flight plan. Nobody sees the full picture until the NTSB puts it together after the crash.
We've watched friends, peers, and coworkers killed — not in combat, but during routine flight. Systems malfunctions. Misunderstanding of procedures. Maintenance that should have been caught. We are done watching people die for reasons data could have prevented.

Training quality is going the wrong direction
The private pilot checkride is now the most-failed practical test in the system. Over one in four fail on the first attempt. Experienced CFIs are being drained into the airlines, replaced by 200-hour instructors who are time-building, not teaching. Those instructors produce weaker students who become the next generation of CFIs. The cycle accelerates.
The answer to a pilot shortage is not weaker training. It's better tools — tools that track whether a student is actually ready based on real data, not a CFI's gut. TallyAero doesn't lower the bar. We build the systems that make the bar achievable.

The industry keeps shipping the same thing
Same scheduling apps, same logbook spreadsheets, same siloed tools re-polished year after year. Nobody connecting the logbook to training to dispatch to maintenance. Nobody asking the hard question: why are crashes getting worse, not better?
And now it's worse. The vibe-code era has flooded aviation with dozens of shallow, single-feature apps built by people who aren't instructors, aren't mechanics, aren't examiners — just developers who saw a gap and shipped the easiest 20% of a solution. Photo-based Hobbs readers that charge you tokens to OCR a number off a gauge. "Strava for pilots" vanity apps where you collect "props" instead of likes. AI chatbots that confidently hallucinate FARs. Logbooks built by student pilots who don't know what they don't know. PE-funded mergers that stitch two legacy products together under a new brand and call it "revolutionary."
None of them connect to anything. None of them make anyone safer. None of them solve the actual problem. They are one-feature thin, built to look good in screenshots and fall apart at a checkride. We are not interested in building another one of those.
The tools exist. The data exists. Someone just has to build something that actually uses it.
It starts with the logbook. Every piece is the same mission.
The pilot's logbook is the most powerful dataset in aviation that nobody treats seriously. TallyAero starts there and builds everything on top of it — the logbook feeds the school, the school feeds dispatch, dispatch feeds maintenance, maintenance feeds the trust chain, DashTwo AI analyzes it all against 500K+ regulatory sources, and the DPE portal validates checkride readiness from real data.
The foundation. Real flight data, currency, proficiency, and risk signals from actual experience.
Training, dispatch, and maintenance connected to the logbook. Full picture before a student flies.
Regulatory intelligence grounded in FARs, NTSB data, and your actual logbook.
Pre-validated checkrides. The student is ready or they're not — everyone knows before it's scheduled.
The Constellation
The Constellation is built from Angel Files. Each Angel File represents a real flight, a real person, and a real outcome. They are not data points. They are the final record of someone's last flight — a pilot, a passenger, someone who trusted the sky and didn't make it home.
We built The Constellation to honor that record by actually using it. Every flight plan submitted on TallyAero is compared against every Angel File we have — so that what happened to them can protect what happens to you.
We do not take that lightly.
We're building this with industry experts, not in a vacuum
Active development with design partners — CFIs, school owners, DPEs, A&Ps, and pilots who are done waiting for the industry to catch up.
